Eliminating Pain with Medical Marijuana

On June 19, 2014, Assembly Bill 6357, (administration of medical marihuana by a designated caregiver for a certified medical use) was approved by the Assembly 117-3, and by the Senate 49-10 on June 20, 2014, and was signed into law by the New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on July 05, 2014
On December 1, 2016 the New York State Department of Health announced that chronic pain will be added as a qualifying condition for medical marijuana.
Requirements: Medical Marijuana Card in New York
- Patients must be approved by a certified cannabis physician that can provide documentation describing the diagnosis for a New York State qualifying condition.
- Patients must be a resident in the state of New York with proof of residency.
- Qualifying Conditions: Cancer, HIV infection or AIDS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury with spasticity, epilepsy, inflammatory bowel disease, neuropathy, and Huntington’s disease. The associated or complicating conditions are cachexia or wasting syndrome, severe or chronic pain, severe nausea, seizures, or severe or persistent muscle spasms
